I’ve been playing with text options lately since I’ve been working on my “Snapbook” albums and they have so much journaling in them! (I've been posting those on Facebook, so swing by and say "hi" when you have time and you can check them out there!) I have been searching around for text and journaling ideas for digi scrapping lately. There are so many tutorials available for journaling and text information! I have been bookmarking the tutorials that I think are the most helpful. I came across one a few weeks ago, that shows how to use a text blending technique that I have long used and loved on my own pages. The tutorial is called “Fonts Don’t Float” and it is written by my sweet friend Suzy. You can find it HERE at The Daily Digi. I know that sometimes tutorials can seem overwhelming, but I promise, that this one is very easy to follow, and Photoshop users will love the results they get with their journaling, in just a few very short and easy steps!!

One of my own favorite journaling techniques is journaling on a path. I had wanted to write up a quick tutorial, but I ran out of time today! So I promise I will write that up very soon. For now, I have some fun pre-made text paths that you can simply drag on to your page and quickly modify to add your own fun journaling to your pages. Enjoy!!

I was so happy to receive the sweet comments and feedback about the Snapbooking template freebie that I posted Monday. I have been asked by a Facebook friend to create more of those, so if you enjoyed using it, look for them in bundles in my shop soon!! And thanks to all of you who left me the kind comments. Your feedback is so helpful to me to know what interests you as scrappers, and it is inspiring to me as well! Thank you!

I created some word art for the Hippity Hoppity Kit and I love how it looks on the pages. So I decided to make them into an entire alphabet! You can pick up that alpha for free in my store HERE at After Five Designs. Enjoy!!

Sunshine Through the Rain at The Daily Digi

This month I am so extremely honored and excited to be a part of The Digi Files at the Daily Digi. I am a huge fan of The Daily Digi. I think it is the best site available to the digital scrapbooking community, for news, tutorials, information, great inexpensive scrap materials and so much more.

Steph and Katie (who run The Daily Digi) are also the same talented ladies behind The Digi Show, a weekly digital scrapbooking podcast that I am absolutely addicted to! It is so inspiring to me and very entertaining. I look forward to the new episode each week. If you haven’t been listening, you should really start now! You don’t need an iPod to listen, you can stream it directly from their site. I like to listen while I’m scrapping or designing.

My contribution to the March Digi Files is a collaboration with K Studio and myself as a part of our design team, kSquared. This collaboration is my favorite kit that we have done together so far. It is called Sunshine Through the Rain. It is a HUGE happy rain and sunshine, spring themed kit. We absolutely love how it turned out, and we hope you will love it too!!

If you pick this up as a part of the Digi Files, you will receive, not just our collaboration, but several kits from some awesome designers, for a very low price. There are several options for purchase, and you can check them out HERE.

Make sure to stop by and read our featured post HERE at The Daily Digi. You can learn a little bit more about Kristen and me and how we work together as a team. You will also find a discount coupon for our stores! Make sure to also leave a comment there today to be entered in a random drawing to win $10 in our stores!!

Snapbooking

I am busy finishing up a new kit that will release March 22. I'll make sure to give you a sneak peek on Monday when I can also reveal another project I was a part of recently!

Today I wanted to share something a bit more personal that I've been working on lately. When I started digital scrapbooking in 2008, I had been a paper scrapper for just over 2 years. I had a 6 month old and a 3 year old, and I just wasn’t able to find the time to drag out my supplies and work on paper pages. So my first digi pages were an attempt to scale down my scrapbooking process, in order to save time and keep all of the scrapbooking supplies out of the hands of my tiny kiddos.

My first digi album was a 4x6 photo book. I chose a 4x6 photo, and digi scrapped a journaled card to go with the photo. Then I slid both the photo and the journaled card into an album side by side. It was a very simplified form of scrapping, focusing more on recording the story and the memory, than on the elements and papers. As I became more involved in the digi community, I moved away from this process and started creating 12x12 and 8x8 albums. I found that the 12x12 style was a fun and beautiful way to scrap.

Over the years, because I have limited time, my computer time has been focused on more on my digital scrap designs and less on my personal memory keeping, I have created far fewer layouts than I would like. This January, I was listening to this episode of the Digi Show. The guest on this episode was Becky Higgins. She talked a bit about rediscovering her love for scrapbooking through her Project Life line. That podcast really inspired me to devote more time to my own personal memory keeping.

So after really considering what has worked for me in the past, and what hasn’t, I have decided this year to return my personal scrapbooking focus to the 4x6 albums that I started with in 2008. I’ve been referring to this as “Snapbooking” because basically the method focuses on a snapshot and a little bit of journaling. So far I have been able to keep up with my memory keeping, and I’m really enjoying the process. I’m still scrapping the occasional 12x12 page, but my main focus has been on my Snapbook album.

I am enjoying it so much, that I wanted to share the idea with you. I think it’s a really quick easy and stress free method of memory keeping. And it’s a great way to scrap those older photos, a vacation, and just everyday snapshots and simple moments that you want to remember.

Here a couple of the album pages that I’ve done using this method:

Most of my photos have been taken using my iPhone. I’m keeping it really fuss free, and simple. My kids really enjoy working on the pages with me, and they love looking through the albums and having us read the journaling to them.

I created a Snapbook journaling template that you can use if you’d like to give this method a try! If you do try Snapbooking, or you already scrap in a similar way, I’d love to hear about it!!

Happy Scrapping!

A Land of Dreams Sneak Peek

Oh my goodness I’ve been very bad at updating my blog lately! I’ve been busy designing lots of new goodies, but I haven’t been able to share any of them yet! One of them is available right now at The Daily Digi. It’s a fun, happy collab kit with K Studio, under our collab name kSquared. The Daily Digi hasn’t revealed the contents yet, so I can’t show you what it looks like, but it is my very favorite project that I have done so far with K Studio!! Pick it up while it is a part of The Digi Files during the month of March and you will get lots of other kits along with it!! You can pick that up HERE at The Daily Digi.

I also just finished a brand new collab kit with Red Ivy Designs that will be available March 8th at After Five Designs. Wanna see a little peek??

sneak
You have a chance to win one of two free copies of the collab when it is released on Thursday! Just post a comment on my blog to let me know you want to win!! (Contest Closed)

Psssst….once you’ve posted here on my blog, you can take a second chance to win! Just head over HERE to Red Ivy Design’s blog and leave a comment on her sneak peek there as well! (If she hasn’t posted her sneak peek yet, please be patient. We are on very different time zones so it is difficult to coordinate posting at the exactly same time!)

Good luck!! See you Thursday!

PS-I've been trying to figure out how to number my blog comments. It would make the random drawing soooooo much easier! If there are any Blogger whizzes out there that feel like telling me how to do that, I'd be forever grateful!! ;)
